Masters for such services have difficulty in recommending universal application of the general Rules, by which they are guided in

ordinary cases to cases of so peculiar a nature as those in question.

The general rules to which I refer however are as follows.

In the case of seamen rescued

from wrecked British vessels the Board of trade are in the habit of allowing for subsistence of the wrecked crew.
